Oh blog, I have not forgotten about you, I promise.
Lately I just haven’t felt like enough project work has been happening to really warrant a new post. The new apartment is pretty sweet and I’ve been trying to keep up with keeping it nice and fresh so it doesn’t aggravate Jonathan’s allergies. So, busy being domestic…not entirely interesting…
Keeping it short today:
Completed the Faberge Shawl
Washing my Frosty Acorn sweater
Starting sleeves on my Bloom cardigan
There has been no dye transfer to my pillow, hands are not stained purple, hair doesn’t feel crispy, my “virgin scalp” (harhar) isn’t super itchy or flaking or otherwise feeling mega damaged, and IT MATCHES MAH GLASSES!!!!
Yes, I’ve used store box stuff. Yes, I’ve gone to a mall salon…ick…(they didn’t destroy my hair but the color never lasted very long and I never went wild with a dramatic dye job.)
Ready to take down some Titans!
As most of you know, I have incredibly dark brown/black hair, my hair has natural dark dark dark brown highlights, and Tonie permed me back in October. With that all being said, I had to be bleached twice, as kind of expected, and only had the dye in for about 20 minutes….it may have been the full 30 minutes, but I wasn’t paying attention to the clock because it was burning so bad. But I wanted this color so bad!!
Totally worth the 5 hours and the stinging. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Face keeps smiling at nothing in particular and that’s the way I like it. XD
For upkeep I also purchased some fancy smancy shampoo and conditioner. Did you know you can buy shampoo and conditioner with colored toner in it? I totally didn’t know! And now you know.
Since I am a daily washer it is going to be interesting resisting going full blown shampoo the next few days. I’m going to try to wait as long as possible before the first wash of my newly dyed hair. And when I do wash, it will be with my new special shampoo and conditioner. Man, that word is awkward. Sh-aam-pooooooo…..
In the bag. This is the last work day of the month!
I guess it flew by, but this week has definitely dragged on. So lets talk about happy things, like ME and my projects! =)
First off I have to mention that my hair is finally long again. Long enough to pull back into a little pony tail. I forget how this makes my face look much narrower, how much I look like my mom, and how Korean it makes me appear as well. Heh. I am what I am, and I no longer have poof going on at the shoulders. Mid-April I believe will be the 1 year mark since I cut it really short before our Costa Rica adventure and I do feel like my hair growth has slowed somewhat. It may just be due to the perm though. By this coming May I’m sure it’ll be a nice mid shoulder length with plenty of styleability.
Ok now for projects:
- I’ve started plying my master project. I grossly miscalculated how much yardage each ply was going to be. I may end up in the 300 yard range by the time I’m done. I haven’t even gotten half way through and my spindle is almost at capacity!
Progress! I’m not even half way and the spindle is so full! I’ll pack on some more tonight. Hopefully I can get the rest of the merino/bamboo ply on this run and transfer the yarn so I can spin more. So much yardage!! #threeply #3ply #handspun #handspinning #handmade #portlandcraft #dropspindle #kundertspindles #diyyarnspinning
- Christmas spinning results are in and it looks like my Mountain Sapphires will be a little neck warmer. Nice and thick! I’m doing a basic garter stitch scarf, but to spice things up a bit I’m going to drop sections and reloop them using a crochet hook to make big stitches. I’m pretty stoked for this even though the scarf isn’t going to be that long. Will be making a button border at the end.
- Rose City Yarn Crawl Mystery Knit Along: That’s a mouthful. It’s started! Clue 1 came out this week Wednesday, and the next three clues will be coming out once a week for the next three weeks. I’m pretty excited and thankful I had the foresight to ask Cindy for help picking colors! I did keep to the plan and I’m excited how the cowl is going to turn out!
- Master Plan Spinning Project 2 is manifesting itself. Noriko released a bulky weight hat last year that I want to spin yarn to make. Yeah bulky, yeah spinning for an actual project, yeah yeah!!
